Neptune, Chiron and Uranus Align…What’s next in line?

I have talked recently about the long-term conjunction of Neptune and Chiron. Neptune is the spiritual, the realm of dreams and illusion, boundlessness, lack of boundaries, and on a more material level, drugs and oil. Chiron signifies a wound we carry, and its transit shows collective wounds and their emotional and psychic impact on us. Chiron is also the stories we tell, which are the ways that we transmit what is really going on within us, particularly those stories that touch deeper areas where we are wounded, uncomfortable, or just out of touch.
When these two planets come together, they create a strange complex of influences. On the one hand they show our extreme openness and vulnerability to psychic influences. We have all noticed that those who are particularly sensitive psychically or emotionally have been deeply affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It is as though the suffocation of the sea life is something that we feel directly, personally, and take on ourselves. A similar phenomenon happened after 9/11, when many sensitives picked up the sadness and frustration of the many souls that died so suddenly that they could not make peace with themselves before the tragedy. When we are so sensitive, it is doubly important if not essential to have the means of protecting our deeper self from environmental and world events. Although in saying that, it is ultimately a good thing as it forces those situations to our attention and places a higher priority on them in our minds, which can then lead to changes in policy in those who supposedly “govern” us. At the very least, it makes such situations untenable and brings us to change our minds and begin to aid in the necessary changes that our world so badly needs.
Adding to this is another component. When many planets align in a t-square as they currently do in the early degrees of cardinal signs (Aries, Libra and Capricorn), it is not only the two-planet aspects that are significant, but also the sequence of influences. In the current situation, the sequence is Neptune (27 Aquarius), Chiron (29 Chiron), Uranus (0 Aries), Saturn (1 Libra), and Jupiter and Pluto (3 Aries and Capricorn). This obviously compounds the situation and makes any one of the components seem almost insignificant by comparison.
The way such sequences work is important because every day the diurnal ASC passes all 360 degrees and therefore “hits” this t-square four times a day. The moon passes the square and opposition points four times each month, and the sun will also trigger it over a six month period. So it is essential that we understand the sequential dynamics of such a string of influences.
If Neptune and Chiron alone are the sense of the clash of idealism with the realities of the wounds we are incurring these days, this in itself is a shock to our system. However, the baton then passes to Uranus in Aries, which brings impulsive actions, the need for rapid change of attitudes, impatience, and particularly, technical elements to the equation. Nowadays the “new media” allow information to disseminate instantly around the entire world, and the sensitivity of Neptune/Chiron therefore makes a much more powerful impact on us all. WE ALL FEEL THE PAIN.
Saturn following at 1 Libra brings the realization that institutions (like our government, or BP) are the root and core of the problem, and they are extremely reluctant to change, or conversely (or perversely!) are unwilling to change their essential nature. You can feel this in the disenchantment with Barack Obama, who promised fundamental change, only to discover that such change is resisted by Republicans, but also almost everyone else with vested influence in our current world. Saturn puts the brakes on this difficult situation and asks for fundamental breakthroughs in institutions. It creates new boundaries.
Jupiter wants expansion and freedom, and Saturn/Jupiter ask for patience and time in order to manifest the necessary changes. It brings a note of optimism to the equation, although Jupiter passes through quite quickly and means that we must act now.
Pluto pulls up the rear and brings us the deeper and more permanent message: in order to change, the entire edifice must virtually “die” to its former ways, and be reborn to a newer, more just and righteous order. While this is asking a lot, it does mean that, in Pluto’s unique ways, if we don’t embrace the need for fundamental change, things will happen that will force us to change in ways that we can’t even imagine.
As Pluto is the last in line and also the slowest, over the next few years, we will see all of these planets waltz past its transformative lens and bring massive change, whether or not we want it to happen.
